About

“Los Altos de Chiapas” is a region in Southeast Mexico rich in cultural and natural diversity reflected in textile artisanal traditions, processes and patterns. Tsotsil and Tseltal peoples, guardians and bearers of Mayan ancestral traditions and customs, maintain and transform these traditions to adapt to our ever-changing times. “Changing tradition traditionally” is reflected in the designs by Malacate Taller Experimental Textil in the creation of contemporary artisanal pieces aligned with their worldview to pursuit a “fair-dignified life”, Lekil Kuxlejal.
